Make up for ugly days

Lets face it, we all have ugly days. That hormone induced moment of absolute horror when you innocently take a glance in your mirror and wonder how can anyone on earth can  love me?

When I am slapped with the prospect of facing an ugly reality that my self-image is somewhat warped and I convince myself of this fact; I have a few tactics to combat these deadly whisperings in my ear.

Modern life bombards us with constant images of ‘perfection’ and the female body is subjected to scrutiny through misogynistic stereotyping. In times like this I try to remind the over-active, insecure, spot-prone, teenager in me that no-one is perfect, not me, not Beyonce and certainly not Kate Middleton.

Ugly days are a side effect of these constant images of ‘perfection’ being thrown at us, and the expectation of being beautiful throughout our lives while waging jihad against the tyranny of age.

We will get old and die and some may die before they reach old age…but while we are here & fortunate to still have some youth & health, lets work on winging ugly days.

Here are few tips to help you getting through the days when we are forced to ignore our demons and deal with the public or even worse our husbands.

1.Exfoliate your skin with a homemade mask

2.Take a nice, warm bath. If there’s no time, jump in the shower. You need to relax and unwind.

3. Push your hair up in a ponytail and slick it with some kind of hairdresser. The clean, sleek look should help you feel more confident.

4.Take a warm flannel and place it over your face and take a few deep breathes. Repeat this with a cold flannel immediately after.

5. Apply concealer and if necessary some foundation.

6. Next some blusher on your cheeks to give you a healthy glow

7.Put a bit massacre on your eyes and light kohl. Don’t over-do it, chances are you’ll end up looking like you tried too hard and that’s because you are.

Remember beauty comes from within first, learn to accept your quirks, take care of your mind, body & soul for happier ugly days
